How can I become a tutor?

The JMTP tutoring program is currently administered by Dr. Allison Wente​ (Elon University). Please fill out the form below and Dr. Wente will be in touch with you soon. *Note: hiring for fall 2022 is now open.

Some things you should know about our program

1. First, please read the Tutor Guidelines. Please note that in order to qualify as a tutor you must be enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student.

2. ​What is in it for you?

  • The chance to be part of a national program, and to list it on your resume, making you more competitive for graduate assistantships and teaching jobs.
  • The chance to earn letters of recommendation from nationally-recognized faculty in the growing field of Music Theory Pedagogy.

    For example: Fundamentals, Dictation, Sight-Singing, etc.
    Music Theory and Ear Training textbooks you have used, or are familiar with.

    Please provide the name and e-mail address for a faculty member who is familiar with your work in Music Theory and Ear Training. We will contact this person for a letter of reference.
